MGI Website Legal and privacy information
Website Privacy Policy
How My Geek, Inc. collects, uses, discloses, and protects Website information.
Effective Date: July 31, 2026
This Website Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how My Geek, Inc. (“MGI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with www.mygeekinc.com and related webpages, forms, tools, and communications (collectively, the “Website”).
1. Introduction
MGI is an Oregon corporation that provides information-technology consulting, support, managed solutions, cybersecurity-related services, and other technology offerings. This Policy is intended to provide a clear description of our Website information practices and the choices available to Website visitors and people who contact us.
“Personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked to an individual or household. The term does not include information excluded from that definition under applicable law, such as deidentified or publicly available information in some jurisdictions.
2. Scope of This Privacy Policy
2.1 Information Covered
This Policy applies when MGI determines the purposes and means of processing personal information collected through the public Website, Website forms, Website tools, marketing communications, and direct inquiries relating to the Website or MGI’s offerings.
2.2 Information Not Covered
This Policy does not govern: (a) information MGI processes solely on behalf of a client when the client determines the purposes and means of processing; (b) client data, system data, credentials, or confidential information governed by a Master Services Agreement, service-specific agreement, Order, statement of work, or other Commercial Agreement; (c) workforce, applicant, contractor, or business-administration records governed by a separate notice or law; or (d) a third-party website, client portal, social network, or platform that has its own privacy policy.
When you leave the Website or use a third-party portal or platform, that provider’s privacy practices apply to information it independently collects or controls.
3. Personal Information We Collect

General Website forms are not intended for passwords, authentication codes, full payment-card information, Social Security numbers, protected health information, private encryption keys, or other highly sensitive information. Please do not submit such information unless MGI has expressly provided a secure method and requested it for a defined purpose.
4. How We Collect Personal Information
MGI may collect personal information:
- Directly from you, such as when you complete a form, request information, submit a domain for a scan, contact us, subscribe to communications, or interact with MGI;
- Automatically from your browser or device through server logs, cookies, pixels, scripts, security technologies, analytics, and similar technologies;
- From public sources, such as public DNS, certificate, domain, business, professional, or security-related information;
- From service providers and platforms that support Website hosting, forms, email, analytics, security, client communications, scheduling, or similar functions; and
- From referrals, business partners, social-media platforms, or other persons where they are permitted to provide the information.
5. How We Use Personal Information
MGI may use personal information for the following purposes:
- Operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Website and Website tools;
- Process forms, inquiries, requests, scan submissions, and results;
- Respond to you, schedule discussions, provide requested information, and evaluate potential business relationships;
- Prepare, administer, or perform a Commercial Agreement when you or your organization chooses to engage MGI;
- Understand Website use, measure performance, diagnose issues, and improve content and user experience;
- Protect against spam, fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, security threats, and unlawful activity;
- Send service-related, administrative, or transactional communications;
- Send marketing or educational communications where permitted by law and maintain consent and opt-out records;
- Comply with law, legal process, professional obligations, audits, recordkeeping, and lawful governmental requests;
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and enforce applicable terms and agreements; and
- Carry out another purpose disclosed when information is collected or with your consent.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
6.1 Types of Technologies
The Website and its service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, tags, scripts, server logs, and similar technologies. These technologies may support essential Website functions, remember preferences, prevent abuse, measure traffic and performance, understand interactions, or enable embedded third-party content.
6.2 Cookie Categories
Depending on the Website’s configuration, cookies and similar technologies may be categorized as strictly necessary, functional, analytics or performance, security or fraud-prevention, and embedded-content or social-media technologies.
6.3 Your Controls
You can usually control cookies through browser settings and, when available, the Website’s cookie or privacy controls. Blocking or deleting cookies may affect Website functionality. Browser controls do not necessarily prevent all server-side logging, embedded-content collection, or similar processing.
6.4 WordPress and Administrative Cookies
The Website is built using WordPress. WordPress and related components may use technical cookies for authorized administrator login, session management, display preferences, browser-cookie testing, security, and publishing activity. These functions support Website administration and are not public customer-account features.
7. Embedded Content, Public Features, and Third-Party Collection
7.1 Embedded Content
Website pages may include embedded videos, images, articles, maps, social-media posts, or similar content provided by another website or platform. Loading or interacting with embedded content may allow that provider to collect information, set cookies, use additional tracking technologies, and monitor your interaction as though you visited the provider directly, including when you are logged in to an account with that provider.
7.2 Public Comments, Accounts, and Media Uploads
As of the Effective Date, the public Website does not offer visitor commenting, public user registration, or public media uploads. MGI therefore does not currently collect commenter-profile information, public Website-account profile information, or visitor-uploaded media through those functions. If MGI materially enables any of these functions, it will update this Policy as appropriate.
7.3 Other Third-Party Collection and Cross-Site Activity
Third parties that provide analytics, security, anti-spam, content delivery, embedded media, social-media features, or similar services may collect identifiers, device information, and online activity when you use the Website. Depending on the provider and your interactions, those parties may collect information over time and across different websites or online services.
MGI does not control information a third party independently collects or uses for its own purposes. You should review the privacy policies and controls of third-party services you choose to use. A third party acting only as MGI’s service provider is expected to process information for the services it provides to MGI and subject to applicable contractual restrictions.
8. How We Disclose Personal Information
MGI may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients for the purposes described in this Policy:
- Website hosting, content-delivery, infrastructure, maintenance, and security providers;
- Form, email-delivery, customer-relationship, ticketing, scheduling, and communications providers;
- Analytics, performance, anti-spam, fraud-prevention, and Website-measurement providers;
- Providers that support domain, DNS, email-security, reputation, certificate, or related Website-tool functions;
- Professional advisors, auditors, insurers, accountants, and legal counsel;
- Governmental authorities, courts, law enforcement, or other persons when disclosure is required or permitted by law, necessary to protect rights or safety, or needed to investigate unlawful activity;
- A buyer, successor, lender, investor, or transaction participant in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction; and
- Other persons at your direction, with your consent, or as disclosed when the information is collected.
MGI may also disclose aggregated or deidentified information that is not reasonably capable of being associated with an individual, subject to applicable law.
9. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
MGI does not sell personal information for monetary consideration as part of its ordinary Website operations.
MGI may allow analytics, security, embedded-content, social-media, or similar providers to receive online identifiers and activity information to provide services or content. Depending on applicable law and the provider’s configuration, some disclosures may be treated as a “sale,” “sharing,” or processing for targeted advertising even when no money is exchanged.
Where applicable law requires an opt-out right for such processing, MGI will provide or recognize an applicable method to exercise that right. MGI does not knowingly sell the personal information of a person under 16 or knowingly process the personal information of a person under 16 for targeted advertising or profiling in furtherance of decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.
10. Communications and Marketing Choices
10.1 Inquiry and Service Communications
If you submit a form or contact MGI, we may respond using the contact information you provide. We may also send communications reasonably related to your request, a potential engagement, an existing relationship, Website administration, security, or a transaction.
10.2 Marketing Email
Where permitted by law, MGI may send marketing or educational email relating to its services, content, events, or offers. You may opt out by using the unsubscribe mechanism in the message or contacting MGI. Opting out of marketing does not prevent non-marketing communications that are necessary to respond to a request, administer a relationship, provide security information, or satisfy legal obligations.
11. Data Retention
MGI retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including responding to inquiries, providing requested results, administering relationships, maintaining business and consent records, securing the Website, complying with law, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements.
Retention periods vary based on the type and sensitivity of information, the context in which it was collected, legal or contractual requirements, operational needs, and whether information is needed to protect rights or security. When information is no longer reasonably needed, MGI may delete, deidentify, aggregate, or securely dispose of it, subject to backup, archival, legal-hold, and technical limitations.
12. Data Security
MGI uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information in its control against unauthorized access, acquisition, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Safeguards are selected in light of the nature of the information and the circumstances of processing.
No method of transmission, storage, or security control is completely secure. MGI cannot guarantee absolute security, uninterrupted availability, or that information will never be accessed, used, or disclosed in an unauthorized manner.
You are responsible for using appropriate caution when submitting information online and for protecting devices, accounts, and credentials you use to interact with the Website or third-party platforms.
13. Your Privacy Rights and Requests
13.1 Rights That May Apply
Depending on your place of residence, the nature of the information, MGI’s role, and whether a privacy law applies to MGI, you may have rights to: confirm whether MGI processes your personal information; access it; correct inaccuracies; delete it; obtain a portable copy; obtain information about categories or specific third parties that received it; or opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling.
These rights are subject to definitions, thresholds, exemptions, verification requirements, and limitations under applicable law. Nothing in this Policy grants a right that applicable law does not require.
13.2 Submitting a Request
To submit a privacy request, email info@mygeekinc.com with the subject line “Privacy Request” or write to the mailing address in Section 18. Describe the right you wish to exercise and provide enough information for MGI to identify the records involved. Do not send government identification or highly sensitive information unless MGI specifically requests a secure method for verification.
13.3 Verification and Authorized Agents
MGI may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. Verification may depend on the type and sensitivity of the information requested. If an authorized agent submits a request, MGI may require evidence of the agent’s authority and may verify the request directly with the individual, as permitted by law.
13.4 Response and Appeals
MGI will respond within the period required by applicable law. If MGI denies a request and applicable law provides an appeal right, you may appeal by replying to the decision or emailing the same address with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.” Explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.
13.5 Non-Discrimination
MGI will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. MGI may retain limited information needed to document a request, prevent fraud, comply with law, or honor an opt-out or do-not-contact preference.
14. Do Not Track and Universal Opt-Out Signals
Some browsers offer a legacy “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no uniform industry standard governing how websites must interpret that setting, the Website does not treat a legacy Do Not Track signal by itself as a verified privacy request.
Where MGI is legally required to recognize a qualifying universal opt-out mechanism, such as a legally recognized browser-based opt-out preference signal, MGI will process the signal as required for the browser or device from which it is received and for the processing to which the law applies.
Because most Website visitors do not maintain an authenticated Website account, MGI may be unable to associate a browser signal with information collected through another browser, device, email address, form submission, or offline interaction.
15. Children’s Privacy
The Website is intended for a general business audience and is not directed to children under 13. MGI does not knowingly collect personal information through the Website from a child under 13 without legally required authorization.
If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information through the Website, contact info@mygeekinc.com. MGI will review the report and take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law.
16. International Visitors
MGI is based in the United States. If you access the Website from another country, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or another location where MGI or its service providers operate. Those locations may have privacy laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
MGI does not represent that the Website or this Policy satisfies every privacy law outside the United States. Additional notices, terms, or consent mechanisms may apply if MGI intentionally offers a particular service to residents of another jurisdiction.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
MGI may update this Policy to reflect changes in law, Website features, service providers, technology, or information practices. The revised Policy will identify a new effective date and will be posted on the Website.
If a change is material, MGI may provide additional notice through the Website, email, or another reasonable method. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, the revised Policy applies prospectively from its effective date.
